Aam-Ka Jiu-Jitsu is a mixed martial art that takes a commonsense approach to street-effective self-defense. It blends techniques from across the martial arts spectrum to help each student adapt his or her defense to different situations as they feel comortable. We do not believe in a "one size fits all" mentality. The primary focus of the art is Karate-like, with strong influences from Judo and Japanese and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Other styles such as Ninjitsu, Aikido, Kung Fu, Arnis, and Kempo are used in our "kick, strike, throw, submit" style of self-defense.
Judo is a key ingredient, dealing with falls, rolls (forward and backwards), and throws. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's strong influence deals mainly with what happens after a fight goes to the ground, a reality that is well known to anyone who has witnessed or been involved in an altercation.
Aam-Ka Jiu-Jitsu is a well-rounded style created for offense or defense from multiple angles, positions and situations. It teaches from stand-up to take-down, fighting on the ground, and how to use and defend against weapons.
